Description: This webinar will highlight efforts in the state of Alaska to implement initiatives and projects related to suicide awareness, prevention and post-prevention programming. Additionally, strategies to effectively engage communities and alternative school coalitions in rural and remote areas of the state to address suicide prevention will be discussed.
Objectives: Participants in today’s webinar will learn about:
- The Alaska Suicide Prevention Plan and state statistics;
- Effective strategies to reduce youth suicide;
- The peer-to-peer model designed to provide leadership training and skills that build protective factors to reduce suicide; and,
- Learn about strategies being implemented to address relational poverty, depression and anxiety by increasing coping strategies and resiliency.
